| Land Pollution |
Land pollution is the addition of undesirable matter to the land that damage the terrestrial organisms, reduce the uses of the land by man for agricultural, residential, recreational or other purposes or increase the risk of health hazards to man.
Sources of Land Pollution -
• Chemical and nuclear plants
• Industrial factories
• Oil refineries
• Human sewage
• Oil and antifreeze leaking from cars
• Mining
• Littering
• Overcrowded landfills
• Deforestation
• Construction debris |
| Increased Mechanization |
1. To meet the increasing demand for food, more land is being brought under farming resulting in loss of habitat and shelter for wildlife.
2. When fields are left harvested for the crops, the soil tends to be loose, resulting in erosion and degradation.
3. Monoculture is being increasingly adopted. But this process is unnatural and it depletes the soil of nutrients, allows diseases and pests to spread. |
Mining
Modern mining projects leave behind disrupted communities, damages landscapes, and polluted water affecting aquatic life, vegetation, soils, animals, and human health.
Burial
Jews, Christians and other religions with Abrahamic influence, bury their dead. This leads to regular soil erosion due to loosening of soil.
